Professor O'Brien Stanley teaches courses in film and video production, popular culture, film appreciation and screenwriting for film. In addition, Professor Stanley helps direct (and assists with) the Southeast Texas broadcast program, in which students videotape meetings of local and regional government entities. He is currently working on a short science fiction film. The film, the S.S. Project, pays homage to rockets, rocket scientists, super soldiers, and to 1950’s science fiction films. Professor Stanley is also working on a book with Lamar faculty members Nicki Michalski, Lane Roth, and Steven Zani. The book, tentatively titled, Mars, Movies and Meaning, examines the role that Mars-themed science fiction film play in popular culture.
