Travis Prokop currently serves as Associate Professor of Dance for the Department of Theatre & Dance, at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. Travis has also served as adjunct faculty member for Sam Houston State University and Southern Methodist University.

Travis’ choreographic works have been produced locally for the Houston Health Museum, and Barnstorm Dance Festival (Houston, TX). Travis’ choreography has also been showcased regionally for the south-central American College Dance Association and nationally for The Dance Gallery Festival New York. Travis has also been commissioned by Texas Tech University, Stephen F. Austin University and Grand Canyon University to serve as a guest artist and choreograph work.

As a performer, Travis Prokop has performed with numerous contemporary dance companies in the Houston, TX area, as a principal dancer for Lone Star Ballet (Amarillo, TX) as well as served as dance captain for TEXAS: The Outdoor Musical. Travis has also performed nationally at the Alvin Ailey City Group Theatre in New York and the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

In class, Travis encourages authentic and spontaneous movement with personal interpretation. Examining the worlds of commercial and concert dance, Travis’ classes focus on developing a “personal brand” within dance performance. Urging the dancer to develop an ownership of personal style. “What do you want to be known for and how can you show it within your artistry.”
