Nick Rissman has received numerous commissions and performances by such ensembles and artists as Network for New Music, the Saratoga Chamber Festival, timpanist Don Liuzzi (Philadelphia Orchestra), violinist Chantal Juillet, percussionists Will Hudgens (Boston Symphony) and John Beck. Bell Hop, an electronic work installed in the lobby of the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, received thousands of performances in the years 1996–98. Awards include the 1998 Nevada Arts Council Artist Fellowship, as well as several Meet the Composer appearances. Dr. Rissman has published articles in The Opera Journal and The Journal of Music Theory Pedagogy.

In addition to coordinating the areas of composition and music theory, Dr. Rissman serves as artistic director of Industrial Carillon, Lamar University’s new-music ensemble.
