A professor of clarinet in the Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music, Dr. Kim Ellis has also joined the dean's office this year in the position of special assistant to the dean for faculty affairs in the College of Fine Arts and Communication. In this new position founded by Dean Holtzhausen, Dr. Ellis will work closely with the dean and faculty of the college to create new opportunities through interdisciplinary partnerships, community engagement and innovative educational programs.

Dr. Ellis is a recipient of the Lamar University Teaching Merit and Outstanding Teacher Awards. A native of Rockford, Illinois, she is an artist/clinician for Buffet Crampon Clarinets and D’Addario and Company Rico International.
